Frequently asked questions

Are you Dog Friendly?

Yes, well behaved, and leashed pups are welcome inside our taproom and outside in our spacious yard.

Are children allowed at JAKL?

Yes, we are family friendly! We have a small kids area and some toys inside our taproom and playsets for preschool-aged and elementary-school-aged children in our yard. Children should be supervised by an adult at all times and should not impact the enjoyment of other patrons.

Do you serve food?

We do not produce our own food. We have food trucks multiple days a week, which we strongly encourage you to patronize instead of bringing outside food. Our Food Truck schedule can be viewed at www.jaklbeerworks.com/events-and-food. At times when we do not have a food truck scheduled, you are welcome to bring your own food or enjoy some of our selection of high quality snacks foods.

What does JAKL stand for?

JAKL (pronounced like the animal, jackal) is an anagram of the initials of owners Andrew Kulp (A-K) and Justin Lovuolo (J-L). Friends since Middle School, Andrew and Justin formed JAKL in 2020 with the vision of creating a micro-brewery and taproom focused on providing a relaxed community gathering and activity space for locals in Middletown. The doors opened to the public just after the COVID Pandemic in May 2021and has been thriving ever since.

Do you have any beer To-go?

We do fill Crowlers and Growlers of most of our beers. We do not sell the growlers, but you are welcome to bring your own in and we will fill it.

Do you distribute your beer?

We distribute our beer for draft sales at select restaurant accounts in the area. If you want your favorite local restaurant to offer our beer on their taps, let them (and us) know and we can see about making that happen!

Do you any flagship/year-round beers?

The great majority of our beers are one-off or once-in-a-while brews. We love variety, and so our taps rarely have the same thing on them twice. However, we do keep certain categories of beer on at all times. New-England/Hazy and West Coast IPAs; light flavored lager/lager-like beers; and Fruited Sour/tart ales can always be found on one of our 12 taps.

What kind of activities can I enjoy at your taproom?

We have many weekly, monthly and quarterly events to go with your craft-beer enjoyment. We host Trivia with Xixa every Thursday, Love Local musicians every Saturday evening, Music Bingo every other week, monthly Poetry and Performance Art Open Mics, Monthly Musician Open Mics, Quarterly Singer-Songwriter Showcases and many other parties and events throughout the year.
